T-Ball Overview

T-Ball is an introductory program for children ages 5 to 6 or who are in Kindergarten.  Teams consist of 10 to 12 players.  Games are played between Township teams,  with no traveling to other towns.  An inning is over when all players have had a chance to bat.  Players hit mainly off the "T".  There are no strikes or outs.   The season lasts from late March to the end of school in June.  Each player will be given a hat and shirt, the players get to keep the hat at the end of the season.  The goal is to introduce the children to basic baseball concepts.

Rookie League Overview

Rookie League, formerly T-Ball+, is a more structured program for children ages 7 to 8.  Teams consist of 10 to 12 players.  Games are played between Township and also against teams from other towns.  An inning is over when either 3 outs occur or 5 runs are scored.  Children pitch the 1st inning, with the coaches pitching the remaining innings.  If a player fails to hit 5 pitches, the "T" is brought out.  Each coach will prepare a battering order and position rooster for each game.  The season lasts from late March to the end of school in June.  Each player will be given a hat and shirt, the players get to keep the hat at the end of the season.  The goal is to prepare children for the more advanced minor league baseball and softball.

When the team is in the field there will be free substitutions. For example, a player can play the field in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th innings. The players must play at least 6 defensive outs in the field. A player is not to be removed from the field during an inning unless of an injury.
