 1st & 2nd GRADE INTRO LACROSSE

Register online at WTYA.org  starting in January 2011

 

Dates: Saturdays TBD

Time:  10:00 - 11:30

Location: Brass Castle Field

Cost: $35 includes t-shirt

Equipment: Lacrosse sticks & practice balls provided by the WTYA.

   (Non-contact program - girls eyeguards/ boys helmets etc. not needed)

 

-- Introductory skills program for both girls and boys to teach

throwing/catching, ground balls, shooting and cradling skills.

-- A great introduction to the game of lacrosse - a way to work

on basic skills before hitting the 3/4 grade playing field.

 2011 REGISTRATION FEES

 Girls 3-4 grades - $60.00 

 Girls 5-6 grades - $90.00 

 Girls 7-8 grades - $100.00 

 

50% of the registration is to be paid by December 15, 2010. Remaining balance to be paid in January 2011.

 

Parents MUST renew/start US Lacrosse membership ($25) PRIOR to registering online, this provides insurance:

The WTYA will start online early registration for boys and girls Lacrosse, grades 3-8, on November 9.  This early registration will allow the directors to more effectively schedule games with the leagues' deadlines and to order equipment and uniforms.

Registration is open to players who live in Franklin Township, Mansfield Township, Oxford Township, Washington Borough & Washington Township, with the following exceptions:

1) Family played for the WTYA Warren Hills Jr Lacrosse in 2010
2) Family played for WTYA girls Lacrosse OR boys Washington Lacrosse Club in 2008
3) Family enrolled in WTYA Lacrosse clinic in 2007

   All players must be registered members of
   US Lacrosse. The $25 US Lacrosse membership
   fee is included in your registration. It is an annual
   membership, which is required by our league and
   many summer/ winter camps and teams.

 WHO CAN PLAY?

  Open to players from all Warren Hills sending districts:

  Washington Township, Franklin, Mansfield, Oxford, Washington Borough

 

WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?


• Girls' practices begin in early March. 

• Games begin April 17.

• Games are played weeknights and Saturdays.

• Average of 3 practices/ games per week.

LEAGUE INFORMATION

• Member of New Jersey Junior Girls Lacrosse League (NJJGLL)   
     - affiliated with US Lacrosse.

• NJJGLL requires all players and coaches to be registered
     members of US Lacrosse.

Girls Lacrosse is a non-contact sport.

 

 

3rd-4th Grade Teams

• Play 7-on-7 with no goalie*


• Field size: 50 x 25 yards


• 20-minute halves

*Some towns have opted to play  10-on-10 at the 3-4 level

 

5th-6th and 7th-8th Grade Teams

• 12 Players (11 offense/defense + Goalie)


• Field size: 100 x 60 yards


• 25-minute halves


• Modified stick checking

 

VOLUNTEERS

• Coaches: Coaching clinics in early March.

• General Support: Coordination of events, fundraising, scorer's table.

 

EQUIPMENT

• Women's Lacrosse Stick
     - minimum 35.5 in. long

• Eye Guard* - approved for women's lacrosse

• Mouth Guard - must be a color - no clear or white

• Cleats - lacrosse/soccer/field hockey cleats - no metal

• Gloves - optional (good for cold weather)

 

*Eyeguards will be available for new 3/4 girls to rent
  for the season $5. First come, first serve basis.
