                       Sticks Down on the Ground!

The WTYA offers introductory Field Hockey programs for children in grades 2nd through 6th.

The goal is to provide an enjoyable learning experience for all the participants and fans.

Our emphasis in this league is to teach the basics of the game, the importance of sportsmanship

and team work.  Older players are encouraged to mentor the younger players.

The win is not the ultimate objective in this league.  All children will play a minimum of half each half.

No league standings are keptGames can be played Monday-Friday and Sunday afternoon.

2011 Summer Junior Group Practice Schedule

   August 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, 18 from 6:00 – 7:30

Brass School Fields 6:00PM - 7:30PM

These group practices will be behind the Brass Castle School (Midland Avenue).

Following the last August practice, teams will be announced and all future practices

will be determined by individual coaches.  Games start the first Sunday after Labor Day.

Each child will have one weekday game, a Sunday afternoon game and one practice from

Labor Day until mid October.   Attending all games and practices should be a priority.

Items to Remember

1. Your child should bring a water bottle with her to each practice

2. Mouth guard and shin guards must be worn at each practice and game.  Initial mouth guards

are supplied by the WTYA, lost mouth guards cost $1.25 to replace.  Please purchase a pair of

shin guards with a hard shell - the foam types do not offer enough protection for Field Hockey.

3. No jewelry is to be worn at practice or at games.  This includes necklaces, rings and earring.

Hair should be tied back using soft hair bands or scrunchies.
